J. Cole’s last Dreamville Festival expected to bring big bucks for Wake County economy

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival is less than three weeks away and it’s expected to bring big bucks to Wake County’s economy.

“We really look to these opportunities to continue to grow and help put Raleigh on the map of regionally, nationally and internationally and this is one of the events,” said Loren Gold, Vice President of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

The lineup released Monday includes some big names like Lil’ Wayne, Ludacris, and Erykah Badu. Gold says like every year they’re expecting a ton of people to visit Wake County.

“Our projections for this year are probably very similar to what they were last year, close to 52,000 attendees a day compounded to over 100,000 over two days,” said Gold.

He told CBS 17 the majority of those visitors from out of the area.

“86% of tickets held are from visitors so either overnight visitors or day trip visitors, people that are driving in from a two-hour radius, and if you break that down just to the overnight visitor, you’re looking at 70% of tickets held are coming from overnight,” said Gold.

Though Dreamville hasn’t released their economic report for their 2024 festival Gold says GRCVB saw $10.5 million dollars in direct spending.

Although this festival will be the last Gold says it’s brought a wealth of opportunities for the area.

“J Cole’s not gonna play next year he’s already said that but the question is where does the Dreamville brand live, where do the Dreamville artists continue to associate with the event?” said Gold.

Dreamville kicks off on April 5th and 6th. You can find more information on tickets here.
