An aircraft crash occurred Thursday at Langley Air Force Base, a base official told Norfolk, Virginia’s WTKR.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) told the station that the crash involved an experimental MX Aircraft MXS and took place while the aircraft was “on approach” to the base.
“NTSB is investigating the crash of an experimental MX Aircraft MXS near Hampton, Virginia,” the agency posted on X.
The MX Aircraft MXS is a high-performance, single-seat aerobatic aircraft designed primarily for competitive aerobatics and airshow performances. Here are some key details:
The crash comes just days before the scheduled Air Power Over Hampton Roads air show. Air Force officials told Norfolk’s 13News Now that the aircraft involved was not military.
