Lions trade up twice on Day 2, land guard Tate Ratledge, receiver Isaac TeSlaa

Allen Park — The Detroit Lions were quite busy on the second day of the 2025 NFL Draft, trading up twice for Georgia guard Tate Ratledge and Arkansas receiver Isaac TeSlaa.

The Lions went from No. 60 to No. 57 to select Ratledge, and they also swapped No. 130 for No. 230 in the move. TeSlaa went with the 70th overall pick, which the Lions acquired, along with the 182nd pick and a 2026 sixth-rounder, in exchange for the 102nd pick and two third-rounders in 2026.

Ratledge (6-foot-6½, 308 pounds) figures to push for a starting role, competing with veteran Graham Glasgow and 2024 sixth-round pick Christian Mahogany. TeSlaa (6-4, 214 pounds), despite his size, saw the majority of his opportunties in the slot for the Razorbacks.

TeSlaa, who attended high school at Hudsonville Unity Christian, spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career at Hillsdale College before transferring to the Razorbacks. TeSlaa notched 545 yards and three touchdowns on 28 catches in 2024.

Ratledge had spent his previous five seasons at Georgia, where all 37 of his career starts have come at right guard. He performed well at the combine, posting a 40-yard dash time of 4.97 seconds (fourth-best among interior offensive linemen at the event). He also had a vertical jump of 32 inches (10th), a broad jump of 9 feet, 5 inches (third) and he completed the 3-cone drill in 7.38 seconds (first).

The last interior offensive lineman drafted by the Lions in the second round or higher was center Frank Ragnow in 2018.

During the first round of the draft Thursday, the Lions selected run-stuffing defensive tackle Tyleik Williams.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
