The Washington Capitals are back in action Thursday night as they take on the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul.
The Capitals are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to the speedy Winnipeg Jets, but managed to snag a point thanks to Alex Ovechkin’s 889th career goal late in the third period. Ovi enters tonight’s game against the Wild 6 goals away from breaking the NHL goals record.
He’s had a ton of success against the Wild in the past: Ovi has scored 15 goals in 13 career visits to the Wild’s Xcel Energy Center and notched 20 goals in 24 career games against the Wild.
Filip Gustavsson will get the start against the Capitals over Marc-Andre Fleury and will oppose Charlie Lindgren in net. Ovi has scored twice in three previous games against Gustavsson.
Puck drop for Caps-Wild is set for 7:30 pm on Monumental Sports Network. Joe Beninati and Alan May have the call. The game is also being aired aired nationally on ESPN. Make sure to check out the “OviCast” on ESPN+ and let us know how it is.
