Designer Hilary Farr might be leaving the beloved HGTV series Love It or List It, but that doesn’t mean things have to change with her longtime co-star David Visentin. Farr had her fans talking about her plans to renovate her own kitchen in a recent Instagram video, and one person left a cheeky little comment for her. Visentin, who naturally had to tease Farr by telling her she was renovating to “list it.”
Farr took to Instagram earlier this week, rocking chic new grey hair and giving fans a glimpse of her Toronto kitchen as she gets ready to consider renovating. “My walls need painting. My light fixtures need upgrading. My trim needs to be fixed up, and these are all of the things I have to do after 21 years,” Farr explained. “If you want to paint, you have to take every single piece of artwork off the walls. If you want to do floors, everything has to come off the floors. And now, it’s turning into, really, an actual renovation, which is not how I was planning things. But I’m getting excited ‘cause I love the idea of refreshing this house.”
While fans were excited to see what Farr might do in her kitchen, with one social media user urging her to “please make a show” of her renovation, her old pal David Visentin weighed in with his own opinion. “Are you really going to make me say it? Of course you design to List It! You know where to reach me ;).”
Anyone who has watched Farr and Visentin jokingly spar for 19 seasons on Love It or List It, HGTV’s series where a real estate agent tries to convince homeowners to sell while a designer renovates their home in an effort to stay, will recognize their banter. And of course, Farr couldn’t quite let Visentin have the last word, responding, “Ha!! You’re on my speed dial.wait-is that an archaic reference.”
This little exchange was music to the ears of Love It or List It fans, who were surprised to learn that Farr would not be returning for another season this year. Farr, who is in remission from breast cancer, announced that she would not be returning earlier this year, explaining in an interview with People, “I’ve given it so many years of my life. It’s got me through hard times. It’s got the audiences through hard times. It has evolved into a mainstay of people’s lives and it’s been incredibly gratifying,” she said. “But now it’s time for me to move on and meet new challenges.”
When the series returns to HGTV this summer, Rock The Block‘s Page Turner will join Visentin as the resident designer. Turner will most certainly rise to the challenge, of course. But it’s nice for fans to know that Visentin and Farr are still out there bickering and teasing each other like always.
