Maryland football linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II was selected by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round — No. 132 overall — of the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday.
The speedy senior linebacker has been a defensive leader for the Terps over the past four seasons. In 2023, he earned All-Big Ten third-team honors after placing second on the team in total tackles (66) and posting 2.5 tackles for loss.
This past season, Hyppolite was named to the Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List and the Butkus Award Watch List. He was the team leader in tackles (66), with a career-high 10 coming against then-No. 1 Oregon. He also tallied 6.5 tackles for loss.
Hyppolite joins former Terp wide receiver DJ Moore in Chicago.
Hyppolite is the first Maryland linebacker to be selected in the NFL Draft since Moise Fokou in 2009.
