Set to premiere on Friday, May 9 with two full episodes streaming on Paramount+, All Stars 10 not only features the largest cast in Drag Race herstory, but it also introduces a brand-new format, known as the Tournament of All Stars, which will play out over the course of 12 episodes.

This Tournament of All Stars format is a brand-new structure in the entire Drag Race franchise. You might be familiar with these competition stages, as they are similar to sports tournament and borrow certain elements from Survivor (on CBS).
But if you’re gagged, gooped, lost, and confused about how the All Stars 10 competition will play out, we’re here to break it all down!

On All Stars 10, the cast of 18 returning queens will be divided into three groups of six. These three groups are called: Group Orange, Group Pink, and Group Purple.
During this phase, the six queens in each of those groups will face off in a bracket of their own — only competing against one another (the six of them) for three episodes.
In other words, the nine first episodes of All Stars 10 will have three-episode arcs of six queens competing in their respective standalone brackets, which many sports tournaments refer to as a “Groups Stage.”

At the end of each bracket, the top 3 queens with the most points within that group will advance to the “Semifinals,” bringing together a total of nine queens who will go toe-to-toe in a fierce competition round over the course of two episodes.
For Survivor fans, this phase might feel similar to a “merge,” which brings together three separate groups of contestants who will now go against one another in a free-for-all battle royal.

The criteria that the queens must meet in order to qualify for this final round has yet to be disclosed. Nonetheless, this Lip Sync Smackdown for the Crown will indeed end with a new queen being inducted into the Drag Race Hall of Fame and taking home the grand prize of $200,000.
