Meghann Fahy tries to rescue her sister from the call of Lilly Pulitzer in Sirens trailer

Netflix’s Sirens is based around a concept anyone who’s seen that one recruitment video will deeply understand: sororities—whether in college or beyond—can be scary as hell. While the sisterhood in Netflix’s Sirens may look like a pastel-draped Delta Nu on the outside, they seem to be harboring a very dark secret—one that may render them better suited for life in the actual harbor.

While the trailer doesn’t make it explicitly clear, all perfectly manicured fingernails point to this being a story about an actual, mythical siren posing as the leader of a cult-like wellness retreat for one-percenters. That’s an alluring concept in itself, made even more enticing by the fact that the revered socialite, Michaela Kell (Kiki to her nearest and dearest) is played by an appropriately ethereal Julianne Moore.

Over the course of the trailer, it’s revealed that Kiki has her “talons… deep” in a young girl named Simone’s (Milly Alcock) brain. That’s at least according to Simone’s very worried sister, Devon (Meghann Fahy), who attempts to spirit her away from the Lilly Pulitzer-clad coven when she witnesses her new lifestyle. (One that also includes wine-swilling characters played by Kevin Bacon and Glenn Howerton.)

The rescue mission won’t be easy, of course. Michaela has a “weird power” over people (hmm), while Alcock does her best Sydney Sweeney crying that she’s “never been happier” impression when her sister tells her she’s drowning.

Kiki claims she’s not the monster Devon thinks she is, but this writer wouldn’t take any chances. Make sure to plug your ears and tie yourself to the mast when Sirens premieres May 22 on Netflix.
