Men’s Tennis Hosts Georgia Southern and Coastal Carolina This Weekend

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s tennis returns home to host Georgia Southern and Coastal Carolina this weekend at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

The Monarchs compete against the Eagles at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 and meet the Chanticleers on Sunday, March 23 at 1 p.m. Both matches will have live stats and streaming available for fans.

ODU is coming off of a 4-0 win in its first Sun Belt Conference match against Georgia State last week. The Monarchs are also returning from the Ed Collins Invite, where they went 1-2 with a 4-3 win over Texas Tech and losses to No. 7 San Diego (4-1) and Utah (4-3).

Georgia Southern is looking to extend its win streak to six after downing SBC opponents Troy and South Alabama last week by respective 4-2 and 4-1 scores. Coastal Carolina went 1-1 against the same opponents last weekend, falling to South Alabama 4-1 and besting Troy 4-2. The Eagles are 11-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play while the Chants are 5-7 overall with a 1-1 SBC record.

Old Dominion brother duo Connor and Codie Van Schalkwyk are ranked 71st in the ITA for doubles while Connor Van Schalkwyk places 115th in singles. As a team, the Monarchs sit at 59.
