A couple of quick notes on today’s off day, as some news was delivered by Milwaukee over the last 14-plus hours.
In a Sunday night roster move, the Brewers optioned left-hander Grant Wolfram back to Triple-A Nashville. Wolfram, who has yet to make his MLB debut, was recalled Sunday morning to take the place of Nestor Cortes, who was put on the 15-day IL. With the move, Milwaukee’s 26-man roster now has 25 players — we’ll have an update on who the 26th man is before the Brewers begin their series against the Rockies Tuesday evening.
On Monday morning, the Brewers announced their biggest tribute yet to baseball legend Bob Uecker. Uecker, who passed away on January 16, will be celebrated at the Brewers’ home game on Sunday, August 24.
Highlights of the day include former broadcast partner Bob Costas in the booth, special guest appearances, in-game entertainment with tributes to Uecker, 50-50 Raffle proceeds going to three charities supported by Uecker, and a commemorative pin giveaway for all fans.
