The Sacramento Kings 2024-25 campaign came to an end on Wednesday night, as they suffered a 120-106 loss at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks in their NBA play-in tournament game. In the wake of this crushing defeat, NBA insider Brian Windhorst took aim at the Kings.
After revamping their roster over the offseason, and then again ahead of the trade deadline, expectations were high for the Kings this season. They never managed to put all the pieces of the puzzle together, though, and it resulted in them bowing out after losing to an even more chaotic team than them in the Mavericks.

“It’s probably the most I’ve been through in my 16-year career,” DeMar DeRozan said after Sacramento’s season officially came to an end. “The season we had was a lot. It’s too hard to fathom right now.”

In the wake of this loss, the Kings immediately fired their general manager Monte McNair and quickly replaced him with Scott Perry. Amid all the chaos, Windhorst bashed Sacramento, saying this is exactly why they have struggled to find success in the NBA for years now.
“It’s not a good organization,” Windhorst said on “NBA Today.” “This is the definition of why they have been a bad organization for decades. Maybe this new alignment will work, maybe Doug Christie will work … but why would you have faith in it? Why would you have faith in the decision-making from the top?”
While the Kings have already found their new general manager, they have several big questions that need to be addressed this offseason. Their new regime will immediately get to work looking for answers, especially now that their season is over after their loss to the Mavericks.
