Team USA stars Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey are among those competing for individual NCAA championships in Fort Worth, Texas on Thursday as the 2025 gymnastics championships get underway.
Chiles and Carey, who were part of the U.S. team that won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, headline a crowded field that also includes 2021 silver medalist Grace McCallum (Utah) and U.S. alternates Leanne Wong (Florida) and Joscelyn Roberson (Arkansas). Carey, who competes for Oregon State, is favored to win the individual all-around title, while UCLA’s Chiles will look to build on the two NCAA championships she won in 2023 on uneven bars and floor exercise.
In addition to deciding the individual champions, Thursday’s sessions also mark the semifinals of the team event, deciding the four schools that move on to Saturday’s final.
Oklahoma, which has won five of the past eight national championships, became one of the first schools to book their ticket to the NCAA final by advancing out of the first semifinal, alongside Missouri. Reigning champion LSU is a solid bet to advance from the second semi Thursday night, with Utah, UCLA and Michigan State to battle for the last spot.

How to watch NCAA gymnastics championships 2025
Both sessions of the NCAA women’s gymnastics championship semifinals are being aired on ESPN2 and streamed on ESPN+. They are also available for streaming on ESPN’s app.
When do Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey compete at tonight’s NCAA gymnastics championships?
Chiles and Carey are both in the second semifinal, which starts at 9 p.m. ET.
Chiles will be competing with UCLA and start off on arguably her best apparatus, floor exercise, in the first rotation, likely around 9:15 p.m. ET. Carey, who is competing individually, will be rotating with LSU and start the night on uneven bars.
Will we see a perfect 10 at the NCAA championships?
Only five routines garnered perfect scores in the regional finals. And we didn’t see one in the first semifinal. The nature of judging at the NCAA championships makes it more difficult.
No, the code of points doesn’t randomly change at nationals. There are just more judges, which essentially raises the bar for a gymnast to get a perfect score. At regular season meets, each event is scored by two judges. At nationals, however, there are six — with the best and worst scores being dropped, and the other four being averaged.
Missouri, Oklahoma advance to NCAA final
With a clutch performance on balance beam in the final rotation, Helen Hu pushed No. 7 Missouri past No. 3 Florida and into Saturday’s NCAA final for the first time in program history.
The Tigers and Gators were separated by fractions of a point entering the final rotation when Hu − who was retired from competitive gymnastics a year ago − turned in the best score of the day on balance beam, a near-flawless 9.9875. Florida’s final performer on uneven bars, Riley McCusker, needed to keep pace but scored a 9.8625 to seal the Gators’ agonizing third-place finish.
The Tigers will be joined in Saturday’s final by No. 2 Oklahoma, which led from start to finish in the first semifinal session. No. 11 Alabama finished fourth and, like Florida, has seen its season end.
Oklahoma’s Jordan Bowers dominant in first semifinal session
The Oklahoma Sooners cruised to Saturday’s final − and senior Jordan Bowers could be in the mix for the all-around podium.
Bowers was sitting atop the individual all-around leaderboard after the first semifinal session, and she put up the top scores on two of the four apparatuses, uneven bars and floor exercise. Her score on floor of 9.9500 was tied for the best score of the session in any event.
While several heavy-hitters are still to come later tonight, including Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles, Bowers’ early scores should be enough to keep her in the mix.
NCAA gymnastics championships schedule today

The second semifinal features No. 1 LSU, No. 4 Utah, No. 5 UCLA and No. 8 Michigan State. Only two of the four teams will join Oklahoma and Missouri in Saturday’s final.
