PHILADELPHIA — The first six batters for the Phillies in the bottom of third inning have all crossed home plate.

On a rainy Sunday afternoon, the Phillies patiently waited for Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow to come into the zone. The Dodgers righty looked uncomfortable as he struggled to find his footing on the soggy mound. Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior even walked out of the dugout to call time to check in on him during an at-bat against Kyle Schwarber. He walked four batters in the inning and allowed a two-run single to Bryce Harper.

With the bases loaded and nobody out, LA finally said enough is enough and pulled Glasnow. He threw 17 pitches in the inning, 12 for balls. After another rain related pause in the action, Nick Castellanos stepped up the plate against lefty Alex Vesia with a chance to do some damage. He swung at the first pitch he saw, a middle-middle 90 mph fastball deep into the left field seats for a grand slam.

Good News: The Phillies batted around in the third and are up 6-2. Bad News: The stock market is collapsing. More Good News: The Phillies tend to win championships when the economy is a disaster.

The Phillies now lead the Dodgers 6-3 after Teoscar Hernández’s second home run of the game.
