Ole Miss fell behind early against Iowa State on Sunday night in the Round 32, but the Rebels weren’t trailing for long.
Despite facing a 13-5 deficit in the early minutes, the Rebels went on to dominate this game. They ended up taking a double-digit lead into the halftime break thanks to a 35-14 run to end the half.
From there, the Rebels were able to cruise to a big win. A late run by Iowa State in the closing minutes of the 2nd half proved to be too little, too late. In the end, Ole Miss won 91-78.
This was a dominant offensive performance from the Rebels. Ole Miss shot above 50% from the field and hit almost 60% of their 3-point shots. Five different Ole Miss players scored in double figures, led by Sean Pedulla’s 20 points.
On the other side, the Cyclones were significantly-less efficient. They also had 15 turnovers, which the Rebels turned into 20 points going the other way.
This win brings Ole Miss to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2001. Crucially, Ole Miss is also the 7th SEC team to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16 this weekend. That breaks an all-time record previously set by the ACC in 2016.
Ole Miss will face the winner of Michigan State vs. New Mexico in the Sweet 16 next weekend.
