Faith Torrez capped the night with a perfect 10 on the balance beam — the first of her career on the event — to lift the OU women’s gymnastics team to a 198.025 to open their NCAA regional Friday in Seattle.
The Sooners advance to Sunday’s regional final along with Auburn, which finished second with a 196.950.
Earlier in the day, Missouri and Arizona advanced out of the first regional semifinal at the site.
OU is looking for its 20th consecutive berth in the NCAA Championships.
Torrez’s 10 came in the anchor spot on the final rotation to put the cap on the Sooners’ victory.

Torrez scored a 10 in the floor exercise on Feb. 21 against Florida.
By the time the perfect score posted, OU had already clinched the victory.

After a strong 49.625 in the floor exercise — highlighted by Torrez’s 9.975 as well as a season-high 9.950 by Dani Sievers — the Sooners struggled in the second rotation.
OU posted its lowest score of the season on the vault, with a 49.175.
No one posted a score better than the 9.850s posted by Keira Wells and Elle Mueller in the event.
But after a sluggish start on the uneven bars, OU closed the third rotation strong, with back-to-back-to-back 9.95s to take a .7-point lead headed into the final rotation.
Torrez started the closing stretch on the bars with her fourth 9.95 of the season, equalling her season high.
Audrey Davis then followed with another 9.95 before Jordan Bowers closed out the rotation with yet another near-perfect score.
The Sooners then kept the momentum going into the balance beam, with three more consecutive 9.950s from Davis, Addison Fatta and Lily Pederson.
OU’s 49.700 on the beam was its best of the season in the event and tied for 10th in program history.
It was the Sooners’ fifth score of 198 or better this season.
