Known as one of the NBA’s all-time great trash talkers, Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller never backed down from a challenge, especially when it came to going up against Michael Jordan. Their battles were legendary, and sometimes, things got heated on the court.
Now, years later, Miller still hasn’t fully let go of those intense moments. In a recent appearance on the All The Smoke podcast, the Hall of Famer revealed that he still feels some type of way when he sees MJ, even joking that he might still take a swing at him.
“To this day, I think I probably would take a swing on Mike if I saw him,” Miller said. “I might, I don’t know, because there are certain things that are said in between the lines that trigger you, that you remember. It’s funny because during the 75th anniversary, remember Mike wasn’t part of any of the pre-picture and all that, but he showed up before we all walked out.”
“He’s going at Magic, we’re all around there, and I’m saying to myself, ‘I might.’ We’ve got the 75 greatest players out there right now and in my head I’m saying to myself, ‘Damn I might.'”
That moment at the NBA’s 75th anniversary celebration clearly brought back old emotions for Miller, who was standing just feet away from the man he once battled so fiercely.
In his career, Miller averaged 18.2 points, 3.0 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game. He shot 47.1% from the field and 39.5% from three.
