Packers hosted WR Savion Williams on pre-draft visit before taking him in third round

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst revealed that TCU receiver Savion Williams — the team’s pick in the third round of the 2025 draft — was brought in for an official pre-draft visit. The visit was never officially reported.

Williams’ visit makes the Packers three-for-three selecting pre-draft visitors to start the 2025 NFL draft. Texas receiver Matthew Golden and North Carolina State offensive lineman Anthony Belton also visited Green Bay before the draft.

Each team gets 30 official visits before a draft. Teams use them for different reasons — sometimes for medical checks, other times to get to know a player better, answer any off-the-field question marks or even start undrafted recruitment.

More and more, pre-draft visits look like a major part of the evaluation process for the Packers. In each case so far this year, the Packers said the pre-draft visit confirmed what they already believed about the player and increased the comfort level in taking the player during the three-day draft. The visit to the facility is an important box to check and a chance for the team to complete their evaluation profile of a player they like.
