Fans around New England might not know Purdue’s Myles Colvin. But they might know his father, Rosevelt Colvin.
The elder Colvin played 10 seasons in the NFL, including six for the Patriots. The linebacker won back-to-back Super Bowls in 2003 in 2004.
But on Thursday, it was Myles who was in the spotlight during the first full day of the Men’s NCAA Tournament. The sophomore guard made one of the most exciting plays of the tournament so far when he elevated to grab an offensive rebound before coming down with a monstrous dunk.
The play generated some major reactions on social media from fans and media as March Madness opened up Thursday.
“Myles Colvin, my God. That may be the dunk of the entire tournament,” longtime college basketball columnist Pat Forde posted on social media.
TV cameras caught Rosevelt Colvin in attendance at the game, which — fittingly — was in New England. Specifically, the matchup between No. 4 Purdue and No. 13 High Point was at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island.
