Penn State Hockey silenced any doubters with a nearly perfect performance in the Allentown Regional semifinals, a commanding 5-1 win over Maine in the 2025 NCAA Hockey Tournament.
In the opening period, No. 1 seed Maine looked like they would be in control, and the Nittany Lions would be fighting to catch up. However, that only lasted a minute and four seconds when Penn State’s JJ Wiebusch scored a goal to tie things up, and the team never looked back.
Maine was left reeling and couldn’t recover as they were held scoreless for the game despite only shooting seven fewer shots. The Nittany Lions scored two goals with off-power plays and received two from Matt Dimarsico and Dane Dowiak, who sealed the deal with an empty net goal. JJ Wiebusch also had a goal and assisted with the first goal from Dimarsico.
The Nittany Lions will face UConn in the Allentown Regional Finals on March 30.
