UNDATED (WKRC/CNN Newsource) – PepsiCo expanded its portfolio of healthier beverages with the acquisition of Poppi, a popular prebiotic soda brand, for $1.6 billion.

Poppi has gained significant traction since its debut on “Shark Tank” in 2018, becoming a favorite among consumers seeking healthier soda alternatives.

This acquisition was part of PepsiCo’s broader strategy to diversify its offerings with more health-conscious options. Earlier this year, the company also acquired Siete Foods and the remaining half of the Sabra hummus brand.

Coca-Cola also made a splash in the prebiotic soda market with the introduction of Simply Pop, a new beverage that is being promoted as beneficial for health.
