Tonight in Las Vegas, Nevada, there is an intriguing boxing card at the Michelob Ultra Arena. Former IBF Middleweight Champion Caleb Plant will defend his Interim WBA Super Middleweight title against Armando Resendiz. In the co-main event, Jermall Charlo makes his long-awaited return against Thomas LaManna.
The Main Card begins at 8:00 p.m. ET, and the Main Event ring walks are expected to occur at midnight. Here are my two best bets for Plant vs. Resendiz.
Since Plant is a -2500 favorite to beat Resendiz, let’s dive deeper and find the best play to back him tonight. Plant is also -210 to win by KO/TKO/DQ, but the best value is to get him to win in rounds 7-12, which is +115 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
This bet makes sense since his last two wins have come by a ninth-round knockout. Also, three of Plant’s previous four victories have come in rounds 7-12. He showed in his last fight that he can quickly bounce back even when things don’t go his way early in the contest. This bet also makes sense since his opponent, Resendiz, is 15-2, and his lone knockout loss came in the eighth round. Plant’s last win before the seventh round was against Mike Lee in July 2019.
Hernandez, 27, is a talented rising prospect from Cuba. He has seven knockouts in his boxing career and has been very active in the last 14 months, going 5-0 with five finishes. Hernandez is fighting Kyrone Davis, who is 19-3-1 and has won three straight fights. Davis’s only knockout loss was against David Benavidez in the seventh round in 2021.
With Hernandez’s significant power advantage while being two inches taller, he will have many opportunities to put on another impressive performance. Hernandez only has seven fights but is already ranked No. 31 in BoxRec’s middleweight rankings. If his knockout streak continues, more big fights will be in his future.
