An early Christian Pulisic strike handed Milan a 2-0 victory and an important three points from their away trip to Venezia in Serie A on Sunday, but Venezia were unfortunate to have a first-half equaliser ruled out for a slight offside.

Here are the player ratings from Sunday’s early kick-off at the Pier Luigi Penzo.

You can see how the action unfolded on the Football Italia Liveblog.

Venezia 0-2 Milan: Player ratings

Venezia: Radu 6; Schingtienne 6 (Marcandalli 6), Idzes 6, Cande 5; Zerbin 6.5, Conde 6.5 (Oristanio 6), Nicolussi Caviglia 6.5, Busio 6 (Perez 6), Haps 6; Yeboah 7, Fila 5.5 (Gytkjaer 6).

Best Venezia Player: John Yeboah 7 – Denied a first-half equaliser with what was a brilliant first-time finish due to an offside in the build-up that was not his fault. The busiest and most threatening of the Venezia attacking department on the day.

Coach: Eusebio Di Francesco 6 – It took Venezia going behind for them to get going. The disallowed goal showed what the team are capable of at their best. Venezia controlled possession for spells, particularly either side of half-time, but the final touches in the area just evaded them. Unfortunate to have had a goal ruled out for a slight offside, and unfortunate to concede from what was effectively an individual error.

Milan: Maignan 6; Tomori 6.5, Gabbia 6.5, Pavlovic 6.5; Jimenez 6.5 (Walker 6), Fofana 7 (Joao Felix n/a), Reijnders 6, Theo H. 6.5; Pulisic 7 (Terracciano n/a), Leao 6 (Loftus-Cheek 5); Abraham 6 (Gimenez 6.5).

Best Milan player: Christian Pulisic 7 – Into double figures for both goals and assists in Serie A this season as a result of his early opener. It was a fairly typical Pulisic display: A well-taken goal, and the American was always trying to make things happen, even a few moments before he was substituted off just before the 90th minute.

Coach: Sergio Conceicao 6 – It wasn’t the most tantalising Milan display ever, but the team got the job done, and at this stage of the season, the points are more valuable than the performance. What was encouraging was the team’s defensive solidity: Venezia were not without their attacking threats.
