If you follow the lottery in Louisiana, you’ve probably heard rumors that the best places to buy a winning lottery ticket are along I-10. The cities of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, and all the other smaller communities that exist 50 miles on either side of the east-west thoroughfare across the state do seem to produce the most lottery jackpot wins across the state.

That fact is true for scratch-off games from the Louisiana Lottery as well as the litany of draw games the lottery offers in our state. On Saturdays in Louisiana, there are drawings for Powerball, Lotto, and Easy 5. The big focus of this past Saturday was the Powerball drawing, so let’s take a look at what happened.

Our sources at both Powerball and the Louisiana Lottery have confirmed that one ticket sold across the Powerball footprint matched the numbers needed to win the top prize of $167.3 million.

Eleven tickets sold in the state earned that prize, and another thirteen tickets sold for Saturday’s game won a prize of $100.

Where Was the Powerball Jackpot Winning Ticket Sold?

If you want to meet the latest Powerball winner, you’ll have to travel to Kentucky. Exactly where in Kentucky you’d need to travel hasn’t been confirmed as of this report. The last time Powerball had a jackpot winner was in March of this year when a ticket sold in California earned a prize of $526.5 million.

The Louisiana Lottery also held drawings for Lotto and for Easy 5 on Saturday night. There was no jackpot winner in either of those Louisiana-based draw games. So the jackpots, when they draw again on Wednesday, will be $120,000 for Easy 5 and $625,000 for Lotto.
