Prince Louis is so grown up in new portrait for his 7th birthday

Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, honored their youngest son, Prince Louis, by sharing a new photo of him celebrating his 7th birthday.

“Wishing Prince Louis a very Happy 7th Birthday!” the parents captioned the picture of him on their official X account.

The photo, which was also posted on William and Kate’s official Instagram page, features Louis sitting down while he wears a pair of jeans and a dark green sweater with a button-down shirt underneath it. His hair is parted to his left, while he smiles directly into the camera, exposing several missing top teeth. The portrait was taken by royal photographer Josh Shinner.

Kate and William typically release photos of their kids on their birthdays. This year’s shot of Louis showcases a major change from his 6th birthday photo, which was snapped by his mother and featured all of his front teeth in place.

Louis has been a busy boy since his last birthday. In February, his mother posted a photo of pictures he and his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, drew as part of a family art session. That same month, his mother posted a photo of herself, taken by Louis, as she acknowledged World Cancer Day. She revealed her cancer diagnosis last year and said in January that she is in remission.

During the 2024 holiday season, Louis joined his family at a Christmas service at Westminster Abbey in London, which featured a short note he wrote.

“Thank you Granny and Grandpa because they have played games with me,” he wrote. The missive was one of several that was put on the “Kindness Tree” outside of Westminster Abbey.

Louis also showed a flair for cuteness when he made some funny expressions last June during the annual “Trooping the Colour” parade outside Buckingham Palace, something he also did in 2023 at his King Charles III’s coronation ceremony.
