RJ Harvey can be an instant fantasy starter with the Denver Broncos | NFL Draft Live

Yahoo Sports’ ‘Draft Live’ crew reacts to the Denver Broncos selecting UCF RB RJ Harvey in the second round of the draft.

The Broncos have made their next selection.

I remember in the first round, many people thought they were going to take Ama and Hampton.

They didn’t.

They went Ja Hebert in the corner out of Texas.

Now in the second round they do address the running back position.

RJ Harvey, the UCF running back, is the pick here.

Thoughts, Harmon?

Yeah, #1, uh, hopefully nobody was playing the drinking game this offseason of, uh, draft analysts compares RJ Harvey to Bucky Irving because that happens a lot.

So our fantasy handle is definitely going to clip that one right there because fantasy Twitter loves Bucky Irving, but I mean, Let me tell you what, if you are an RJ Harvey fan, great landing spot.

Uh, I mean this, this Broncos team is primed to just drop a running back in here and let him go.

Now he might not necessarily be a feature back because Sean Payton does like to run a committee.

Um, I think a guy like Ash and Genty might have been enough to have him break those rules.

RJ Harvey maybe not so much, but this team was top 11 in yards before contact per rush attempt last year with their running backs.

They were a bottom 10 teams in terms of their running back actually breaking.

Tackles and getting yards after contact.

So Bucky, I, I almost said Bucky Irving here.

Bucky Irving maybe 2.0. RJ Harvey, uh, breaks a lot of tackles.

That’s why people compare him to Bucky Irving because he just cycles through tacklers.

He consistently gives a lot.

He’s got some juice to him.

So, um, yeah, he definitely, uh, maybe again, not a feature back because of the size, but it’s somebody that can be an explosive element to this run game, which there was no explosive element to this run game last year.

I, uh, my little negative with him is I have 11 running backs, including the guys who already went.

That I would have been comfortable taking in the 1st 3 rounds or say 1st 100 picks.

Harvey is the last one like he is the last of that tier for me, um, older for running back, which is a little bit of alarm bell running backs are one of those positions like if you’re not making an impact early, what, what do you say your name is again?

And so a little bit older there I think he has some explosive ability sometimes can’t access it.

He has a little bit, he’s a little bit of a magnet to contact, uh, but the thing is he is still a valid back.

I’m just bringing up the negatives with him, uh, but no, just a good back.

Good size, got good speed, so he checks those thresholds.

I, I thought Matt just made a great point there that Sean Payton always likes a 1-2, preferably a 123 with a little gadget running back in the backfield.

Marvin Mimms is kind of that.

He’s a receiver, but that’s, that’s the guy on this roster that can do that.

So this is maybe the bulkier guy I guess and maybe they do something else at back they keep a guy, but uh they’re gonna get a guy that can eat some innings and that’s what Harvey’s gonna do for him.

Only, only 64% of Broncos fans like this pick as it stands.

I would just remind Broncos didn’t see.

Buck Irving tweets obviously also like a running back at 60 this year this year is not the same as some running backs at 60.

That’s just the context of how deep and talented this running back class is.

Uh, the commanders have already gotten their picket.

We are flying through the bottom of the 2nd round and.
