Rory McIlroy, Wife Make Rare Public Outing Before the Masters

On the Wednesday before the Masters, golfers and their families gathered for one of the best sporting events professional sports has to offer: the Par 3 contest.

Held at Augusta National every year, the tournament allows golfers a chance to bond their with families before a grueling 72-hole marathon in the year’s first major. Among those who teed it up at the event on April 9 was Rory McIlroy, the favorite not named Scottie Scheffler, to win the Masters.

McIlroy was spotted alongside his wife, Erica Stoll, and their daughter, Poppy. While it looked picture perfect, their relationship nearly ended last year when the four-time major champion filed for divorce from his wife in May 2024.

After citing that his marriage was irretrievably broken at the time, McIlroy called off the divorce less than a month later. “There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate,” McIlroy said in the statement given to The Guardian in June 2024. “Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”

Back together and better than ever, McIlroy and his wife made their rounds at the Par 3 contest on Wednesday.

“There’s parts of my life I like to keep as private as possible,” he said. “Unfortunately, in this line of work, that isn’t always possible. I have always been protective of my loved ones from people who have ill intentions. Thankfully, everything has worked out for the best and we’re happy and moving forward and can’t wait for what lies ahead.”

McIlroy is attempting to complete the career grand slam this weekend with the only major title that’s been able to elude him thus far. He tees off at 1:12 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 10.
