With zero wins recorded so far, Nigeria are under huge pressure to get their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign back on track when they face Rwanda this afternoon. The Super Eagles currently sit fifth in Group C approaching the halfway point after some disappointing results across the past two years.
As Africa Cup of Nations qualification took centre stage in the latter half of 2024, Nigeira’s bid to ensure they book their place at next summer’s World Cup took a massive hit after drawing with South Africa and then losing away to Benin in what could be a decisive double-header. Now managed by Éric Chelle, he will be desperate to get off to a winning start.
Rwanda did win the last meeting between the two nations back in November, though the result wasn’t enough to pip Benin as they just missed out on a place at the Africa Cup of Nations. Currently sitting second place and four points clear of Nigeria, an important World Cup qualifier is in store and you can follow the game LIVE below with our dedicated match blog.
