Sofia Richie Grainge is having a gorgeous mom’s night out.
For the 2025 Met Gala, the beauty pro and entrepreneur made her mark on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5. She wore a white satin Tommy Hilfiger gown with some dramatic details. Richie Grainge recently designed a womenswear collection for the brand.
The ensemble featured a high neck, short sleeves and an open back with a massive bow so big it could be seen from the front. The entrepreneur, 26, wore her hair in her signature slicked-back bun and sported a simple, glowy makeup look.
The outing marks Richie Grainge’s first Met Gala since 2017, and her first since becoming a mom. In May 2024, the model welcomed a baby girl, Eloise, with husband Elliot Grainge. She and the music executive have been together since 2021 and married in 2023.

In October 2024, Vogue shared details on the 2025 Met Gala, announcing that Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour would be co-chairs for the event, alongside LeBron James as honorary chair.
The gala, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on the first Monday in May, is a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the theme for the gala.

Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton said the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”
The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.
The Met Gala’s dress code for this year is “Tailored for You,” a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. This year’s event also has a star-studded host committee that includes Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Usher and Angel Reese.

It was no surprise Richie Grainge didn’t attend last year’s Met Gala, as she was only weeks away from welcoming her first child. This year marks her fourth Met Gala with the last being the “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”-themed gala in 2017.
The avant-garde theme in 2017 honored Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo, who was only the second living designer to be showcased at the Met Gala. The last was the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit in 1983. For the occasion, Richie Grainge wore an edgy and revealing metallic dress by TopShop.
The dress gave rock star vibes with the plunging neckline and a visible center seam down the front of the dress. Richie Grainge styled the look with black open-toed heels and a black leather jacket she wore off the shoulders.

Richie Grainge’s stylist Chloé Bartoli piled on the necklaces for a layered look that included “mixing a lot of Chrome Hearts heavy silver jewelry with classic diamonds,” she told Teen Vogue. She paired her Met Gala manicure with a brand new tattoo, she added while getting dressed up for the evening.
Richie Grainge brought the rockstar look to another level by slicking her short blonde hair back.
In 2016, Richie Grainge attended the “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” Met Gala in a metallic animal-print dress by TopShop. The exhibit focused on the “dichotomy between handmade haute couture and machine-made fashion,” Vogue wrote in its annual Met Gala theme announcement.

“I knew I wanted something metallic, since this year’s theme was about technology, and I love the colors that we were able to come up with,” she told The Cut in an interview at the time. “It’s not silver and it’s not gold, but a mesh of colors.”
Richie Grainge’s dress included a crisscross neckline with minimal jewelry and black nail polish. She let her hair down in loose curls and paired it with a smoky eye look done by Vincent Oquendo.
“I’m obsessed with fashion and always have been, so that’s what I look forward to — seeing what everyone is going to wear,” the model told The Cut.
