Following the smash-hit Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, a fourth film in Tom Holland’s MCU Spidey series is finally happening. While the film does not yet have a release date, one major actor has just joined the cast of Spider-Man 4 in a mystery role.
Sadie Sink, known for her roles on Stranger Things, and as a proxy of Taylor Swift in the “All Too Well” video, will join the cast of Spider-Man 4, according to an exclusive report from Deadline.
Who Sink is playing in the film is the subject of intense speculation. While many sources suggest she might be playing the beloved X-Men telepath Jean Grey, it’s also possible, as Deadline suggests she could play “another beloved redheaded Spider-Man character.”
Since 2017, Zendaya has played Michelle Jones-Watson, better known as “MJ” in the films. Although the initial “MJ” matches Mary Jane Watson, Zendaya’s character is not explicitly the same character from Spider-Man lore, who was made famous by Kirsten Dunst in the Spidey films of the early aughts. So, it’s possible Sink could be playing a new version of Mary Jane.
It’s also conceivable that Sink could be playing a new version of Gwen Stacy, who was previously played by Bryce Dallas Howard and Emma Stone. In the comics, Gwen Stacy is generally portrayed as a blonde, meaning, if Sink does play her, there’s a chance, that just like Howard in 2007, she’ll have to dye her hair.
