‘The Pitt’ exclusive clip previews mass casualty event: ‘Expect the worst’

The doctors at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center can’t catch a break.

In an exclusive clip from episode 12 of The Pitt, titled “6:00 P.M.”, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) tells his staff they better “expect the worst” after an active shooter is reported at PittFest. They’re the closest trauma center and will receive the majority of those injured in the tragedy.

“We don’t know yet how many we are getting, but we are instituting hospital-wide emergency protocol,” Robby tells his stunned — and already exhausted — staff, including Drs. McKay (Fiona Dourif), King (Taylor Dearden), Mohan (Supriya Ganesh), and Whitaker (Gerran Howell). Remember, it’s now 6 p.m., which means we’re heading into hour 12 of their shift.

The staff are instructed to clear out all their current patients to make way for the incoming victims. Extra help arrives in the form of Dr. Jack Abbott (Shawn Hatosy), who we met in the first episode as he was coming off night shift — extra-helpful since Dr. Collins (Tracy Ifeachor) just went home following her emotional reveal to Robby about her previous pregnancy.

There are plenty of questions heading into episode 12 — PittFest is where Jake (Taj Nico Speights), Robby’s surrogate stepson, is with his girlfriend. And in the previous episode, David’s (Jackson Kelly) mother told Robby that she was willing to petition to place her son on an involuntary psychiatric hold after finding his concerning “elimination” list.

In the exclusive clip above, McKay’s question to Robby hangs in the air: “Did the police find David?”

The Pitt airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Max.
