The Pokemon TCG Just Unveiled One Of Its Most Anticipated Sets Of All Time

  • The Pokemon TCG will see the return of Team Rocket in the upcoming set, The Glory of Team Rocket.
  • The set is set to release in Japan on April 18, with Destined Rivals coming out in English on May 30.
  • Fourteen cards have already been revealed, including the likes of Meowth, Persian, and Mewtwo.

We’ve known that Team Rocket would be returning to the Pokemon TCG for a while now. A trademark from The Pokemon Company titled “The Glory of Team Rocket” appeared in June last year, and a month later, following the World Championships, Pokemon gave us a look at its upcoming TCG expansions, ending the presentation with Team Rocket’s famous ‘R’.

Since then, we’ve had a bunch of exciting sets and are staring down the barrel at Trainers’ Pokemon with Journey Together, but there’s been no news on when Team Rocket would be arriving — until now.

Today, The Pokemon Company has officially unveiled its next Japanese set, The Glory of Team Rocket, which is due to launch in a little under a month.

The Pokemon Company Has Finally Unveiled The Glory Of Team Rocket

It’s safe to say that Team Rocket returning to the Pokemon TCG has excitement at an all-time high. While Pokemon was already on a stellar run, with the Pikachu-centric Surging Sparks, the Eevee-centric Prismatic Evolutions, and the return of Trainers’ Pokemon in Journey Together, the inclusion of Team Rocket is about to take things to the next level.

The Glory of Team Rocket is set to release in Japan on April 18, and cards from this set, along with the Heat Wave Arena expansion, will make up the English version of the TCG’s Destined Rivals set, which is due for release on May 30.

The initial reveal showed us fourteen different cards of the 98 that will be appearing in the set, excluding secret rares, confirming the return of “Rocket’s Pokemon”. We also got a look at the pack artwork, which features a bunch of prominent Team Rocket members and Pokemon, including Giovanni, Arbok, and Mewtwo.

So far, of note, we’ve seen a Meowth AR, a Persian ex, and a Mewtwo ex, both of which are likely to have AR or SAR cards when the full expansion is revealed.

The English equivalent set, Destined Rivals, is set to be revealed at some point in the near future. Here’s hoping products are easier to get hold of than yesterday’s Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection drop.
