The White Lotus Season 4 Filming Location: Everything We Know

As season three of The White Lotus wraps up tonight, fans are already wondering where season four will take place.

In February, HBO’s EVP Francesca Orsi revealed that the team had begun scouting locations. “I can’t really say where we’re going to land, but chances are somewhere in Europe,” she said. Season one filmed at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, Hawaii, season two filmed at San Domenico Palace, Taormina, a Four Seasons Hotel in Italy, and the bulk of season three filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui in Thailand.

This past October, HBO and the Four Seasons formalized their partnership, meaning that future seasons will continue to film at the resorts. “Mike White and his team have created something truly special. For many Four Seasons guests, especially our pop culture enthusiasts and travel trendsetters, The White Lotus serves as the perfect travel inspiration,” Marc Speichert, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Four Seasons, said in a statement.

Therefore, we can narrow our guesses to Four Seasons properties in Europe. We’ll rule out Italy, as season two filmed there and it’s unlikely the series would return to the same country. Norway, too, is crossed off the list after Norwegian media reported a “major production was awarded 88 million kroner from the Norwegian Film Institute,” an incentive to film in the country, but it was rejected. (Also, there are no Four Seasons properties in Norway.)

And, any hopes of a ski resort season are likely nixed: White Lotus executive producer Dave Bernard said they will never do a skiing season because White hates the cold. “I feel confident we will never do a season in the cold,” he said on The Bill Simmons Podcast. “Mike White is not for it. He is a California guy. He is not built for the cold.”

So, that leaves us with the following Four Seasons locations, in alphabetical order:

  • Athens, Greece
  • Baku, Azerbaijan
  • Budapest, Hungary
  • French Riviera
  • Geneva, Switzerland
  • Hampshire, England
  • Istanbul, Turkey
  • Lisbon, Portugal
  • London, England
  • Madrid, Spain
  • Mallorca, Spain
  • Megève, France
  • Paris, France
  • Prague, Czech Republic

We’re going to rule out all the big cities—London, Paris, Istanbul, Baku, Madrid, Lisbon, Geneva, and Prague—as White and The White Lotus team have yet to set a season in a metropolis thus far, and a congested location isn’t conducive to filming a full season.

That leaves our five best guesses: (1) the Four Seasons Astir Palace, a beach resort outside Athens, Greece; (2) Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel, located in the French Riviera; (3) Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, a countryside English hotel; (4) Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor, on the Spanish island; and (5) Four Seasons Hotel Megève, in the French Alps. Though White said he won’t do a cold weather season, the Megève property is year-round.

Of course, there’s a chance White & co. decide not to do Europe, and end up elsewhere entirely. But if we had to guess, we’d pick France.

We’ll update this as soon as we learn more about The White Lotus season four filming location.
