The Seahawks added a new face to their wide receiver room with their second pick in the fifth round of the NFL draft on Saturday, taking Colorado State wide receiver Tory Horton 166th overall.

Three Things to Know
- Horton had back-to-back seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards, with 71 receptions for 1,131 yards in 2022 and 96 receptions for 1,136 yards in 2023. Horton played in six games last season for Colorado State before season-ending knee surgery in October.
- Two of Horton’s four siblings are also standout athletes. His older sister Jeane is a professional volleyball player overseas who was an All-American at the University of Texas El Paso, and his older brother Tyler was a two-time first-team All-Mountain West cornerback at Boise State who spent a short time with the Miami Dolphins after going undrafted.
- Horton spent his first two collegiate seasons at Nevada, where he had 72 receptions for 995 yards and 10 touchdowns in 21 games before following head coach Jay Norvell to the Rams.
Quote to note:
“The knee injury is doing really good. I went out there and ran the 40, felt pretty confident. The knee is just only getting better. I feel great about where I am right now.” — Horton when asked about the status of the LCL/hamstring injury that ended his final collegiate season.
What the scouts say:
“Productive fifth-year senior and two-time team captain whose 2024 season was cut short by a knee surgery. Horton is a loose athlete with quality speed and above-average cut quickness. He’s an instinctive route runner with a feel for burst timing and he rarely drops what is thrown his way. Big press corners are likely to slow him and take a bite out of his effectiveness, but motion and bunch formations could solve that problem. He can knife through the heart of zone defenses and is competitive at the catch point but can be overtaken on 50/50 balls by length and size. If healthy, Horton has WR3 upside.” — NFL.com
