A verbal altercation with a fan has just cost Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards $50,000.
The incident occurred during Game 1 of the Timberwolves’ first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, April 19, with 4:33 left in the third quarter.
The 23-year-old athlete is seen getting into a heated verbal exchange with a Lakers fan in Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena in a video posted by Barstool Sports on X on Monday, April 21. As Edwards is walking away, he turns around and can be seen grabbing himself and telling the fan, “My d— bigger than yours.”

The NBA responded with a $50,000 fine. In the statement, League Operations President Byron Spruell said that Edwards was fined “for directing inappropriate language and making an obscene gesture towards a fan.”
The guard’s annoyance during the game didn’t inhibit his performance. He put up an impressive 22 points, with nine assists and eight rebounds, according to ESPN, and the Timberwolves secured a 117-95 win to take the first game of the series.

“I got a great group of guys,” Edwards told the outlet. “But it wasn’t tonight. I learned that in training camp. It just takes a minute for us to gel as a new team. It just took a minute for us to figure each other out, and I feel like now we just go.”
The Timberwolves have won 18 of their last 22 games, and will look to notch another win against the Lakers Tuesday night.
