Arkansas: Risk for flooding continues into Saturday
TIME SATURDAY IS OVER, THOUGH, RIGHT? >> DARBY YEAH, BY THE TIME WE GET TO SATURDAY MID AFTERNOON, I THINK WE’RE LOOKING A LOT DRIER AROUND HERE. WE’LL GET SOME MORE LIGHT RAIN SATURDAY NIGHT, BUT THE HEAVY RAIN THAT COULD CAUSE FLOODING TO REDEVELOP, THAT’S GOING TO BE MAINLY TOMORROW MORNING. THAT’S WHEN IT RETURNS. WE SAW A LOT OF RAIN LAST 24 HOURS THOUGH. I MEAN, A SWATH THROUGH WASHINGTON COUNTY, CRAWFORD, SEQUOYAH, LAFLORE WITH RAIN TOTALS IN THE RANGE OF 3 TO 6 SEVEN INCHES THROUGH HERE. AND SO THAT’S REALLY WHERE THE BULK OF THE FLOODING TODAY WAS. THERE WAS SOME OUTSIDE OF THAT AS WELL. BUT CERTAINLY DID LEAD TO SOME FLOODING. NOW WE’RE STARTING TO SEE THAT HEAVIEST RAIN NOW BEGIN TO PUSH INTO MADISON COUNTY, WHERE THEY DIDN’T GET AS MUCH RAIN TODAY, BUT THEY CERTAINLY HAD SOME AND COULD BE STILL SOME FLOODING CONCERNS THERE AND INTO FRANKLIN COUNTY, SOME HEAVY RAIN COMING BACK IN AND CERTAINLY HAS SOME HEAVY RAIN BETWEEN GREENWOOD AND CHARLESTON. ANOTHER BIG BATCH OF HEAVY RAIN MOVING RIGHT UP THROUGH LE FLORE COUNTY LIKE A BLOB OF HEAVY RAIN. NONE OF THIS IS EXPECTED TO BECOME SEVERE. ALL THE SEVERE WEATHER BASICALLY STAY TO THE EAST OF US THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT, BUT STILL DROPPING MORE RAIN. SO STILL SOME FLOODING CONCERNS IN THOSE AREAS UNTIL IT GETS EAST. WE QUIET DOWN LATE TONIGHT, GET THAT NEXT BIG BATCH TOMORROW MORNING AND IT’LL ADD ON MORE TOTALS. NOW WE’RE LOOKING AT ANOTHER 2 TO 5IN OF RAIN ON TOP OF WHAT WE’VE ALREADY SEEN. SO NOT MAYBE AS HEAVY AS WHAT WE HAD TODAY IN SOME SPOTS, BUT WILL BE VERY WIDESPREAD, MUCH MORE WIDESPREAD THAN WHAT WE HAD TODAY. IT WAS MORE LOCALIZED TODAY WE STILL HAVE SOME CHANCES FOR SOME LIGHT RAIN SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING, BUT LIGHT STUFF AND THAT PROBABLY MIXES WITH SOME WET SNOWFLAKES IN NORTHWEST ARKANSAS AS THAT COLDER AIR COMES IN, IT’LL BE COLD ALL WEEKEND. HIGHS IN THE 40S. LOWS IN THE 30S BY SUNDAY MORNING. BELOW FREEZING MONDAY MORNING. GET A FREEZE THERE AND THEN WE’LL WARM UP NEXT WEEK. RIVER VALLEY COULD ALSO SEE A FREEZE MONDAY MORNING AND THEN MAYBE A FROST TUESDAY MORNING. WE’LL ALSO BE WARMING UP AS WE GO INTO NEXT WEEK, BUT IN THE MEANTIME, WE’VE GOT THIS COOLER AIR JUST KIND OF FILTERING INTO THE REGION AS THIS SYSTEM SLIDES EAST AND ALL THAT SEVERE WEATHER NOW MAINLY GOING TO BE FOCUSED ON CENTRAL ARKANSAS, WE THINK. AND THEN WELL SOUTH OF FORT SMITH. BUT OH BUDDY WHAT A LOT OF RAIN THAT WAS FOR US. WE GET THAT BREAK LATER ON TONIGHT IN THE RIVER VALLEY. BUT THEN IT COMES RIGHT BACK IN AFTER 7 A.M. AND VERY GOOD CHANCES OF RAIN, HEAVY RAIN. AND THEN BY MID AFTERNOON WE’RE QUIETING BACK DOWN WITH SOME LIGHT RAIN POSSIBLE TOMORROW NIGHT. NORTHWEST ARKANSAS SAME DEAL. QUIETING DOWN LATER TONIGHT. 100% CHANCE OF RAIN TOMORROW MORNING. QUIETER IN THE AFTERNOON, THEN MORE LIGHT RAIN TOMORROW NIGHT. THAT AS WE WERE TALKING ABOUT, PROBABLY MIXES WITH SOME WET SNOWFLAKES AS WE GO INTO SUNDAY MORNING. WE GOT THE MARATHON GOING ON IN BENTONVILLE HALF MARATHON OR THE MARATHON IN BENTONVILLE, BUT THAT GETS STARTED EARLY SUNDAY MORNING AND THAT THAT WILL BE INTERESTING. FOR SURE. HOPEFULLY YOU GET THROUGH IT. IF YOU’RE RUNNING IN THAT. BUT ANYWAY, WE DO EXPECT IN NORTHWEST ARKANSAS THOSE TEMPERATURES TO GET MUCH WARMER LATER NEXT WEEK AND WE’LL WARM UP NICELY NEXT WEEK IN THE RIVER VALLEY TOO. WE’LL BE BACK UP AROUND 80 NEXT THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, BUT THE MEANTIME, VERY CHILLY RAINY WEEKEND. THE MAIN THING ABOUT TOMORROW AGAIN IS JUST WATCH F
