How about a big-time portal commitment to get Sweet 16 festivities rolling for Kentucky on this beautiful Friday? Insert Tulane transfer Kam Williams, one of the best shooters in the portal, who is officially a Wildcat.
Williams, a 6-8 freshman who averaged 9.3 points per contest while shooting 41% from three, announced his commitment ahead of the team’s high-profile matchup vs. Tennessee.
“Not many people get opportunities like this, so I wanted to pull the trigger fast,” Williams told Jonathan Givony of ESPN. “More people are waiting to fill that spot, so I had to take advantage.”
The versatile sharpshooter also considered the likes of Florida, Louisville, Baylor, Texas, LSU, Texas Tech, Arkansas and USC, among others.
“My dream is to play in the NBA,” Williams continued. “Kentucky’s culture and background shows that they care about their players, especially developing them into the best players they can be.”
Watch the newest Wildcat go to work:
Williams joins the likes of Jasper Johnson, Malachi Moreno and Acaden Lewis set to suit up for the Wildcats in 2025-26 while Otega Oweh, Brandon Garrison, Collin Chandler, Trent Noah and Travis Perry all could find their way back to Lexington next season.
Quite the start for Pope and his staff this portal cycle. Who is next?
