UConn routs UCLA, advances to national championship: Live updates and reaction from women’s Final Four

UConn has advanced to the national championship game for the first time since 2022 and the 13th time overall after dominating No. 1 overall seed UCLA 85-51 in the Final Four.

The Huskies will face defending national champion South Carolina in the final on Sunday.

On a night when Paige Bueckers struggled, scoring 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting, her teammates Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd stepped up, scoring 22 and 19 points, respectively. Lauren Betts led UCLA with 26 points but got very little support from her teammates, none of whom scored in double digits.

UConn, which has an 11-1 record all-time in the national championship game, is seeking its first title since 2016. The Huskies’ lone loss in the final came against South Carolina in 2022.
