Watch Keegan Michael Key throw a strike from the mound at Tigers Opening Day

DETROIT – Comedian, actor and Michigan native Keegan Michael Key can add major league pitcher to his repertoire after throwing a near-perfect first pitch at Opening Day in Detroit.

The star of “Key and Peele” and “Mad TV” wore a custom jersey with the number 53 as he took the mound for the ceremonial first pitch that landed squarely in the glove of Jake Rogers. Key then leapt into an emphatic celebration before pumping up fans near the Tigers dugout.

Key, who regularly appears on the Detroit Lions sideline, spent his pre-game time chatting with Tigers pitchers Tarik Skubal and Will Vest and signing a series of game balls. After the pitch, he chatted with Tigers players and coaches in the dugout before greeting fans and taking a seat in the new Home Plate Club luxury section.
