Will Ja Morant play vs Mavs? Latest on Memphis Grizzlies star’s ankle injury

All eyes in Memphis are on the potential availability of Grizzlies star Ja Morant before an NBA play-in elimination game against the Dallas Mavericks on Fridays (8:30 p.m., ESPN).

Morant is questionable to play due to a right ankle sprain. He suffered the injury against the Golden State Warriors in a 121-116 loss on Tuesday. Morant missed Thursday’s practice, and Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo said he’ll be a gametime decision.

After Tuesday’s game, Morant declared that he would be playing on Friday. Multiple reports have also indicated that Morant intends to play against the Mavericks with the Grizzlies’ season on the line.

The Grizzlies did not have morning shootaround on Friday ahead of the game. The team will give Morant most of Friday before making an official decision on his status.
