The Minnesota Timberwolves simply had no answer for Zion Williamson.

It didn’t matter who they threw at him, or how many players they threw at him, the New Orleans Pelicans forward either found a way to finish at the rim or find his teammates a wide-open shot. That resulted in the Wolves dropping their second straight contes to a bottom feeder, falling to the Pelicans 119-115 Wednesday night at Target Center in Minneapolis.

Williamson’s layup with 13.6 seconds remaining put the Pelicans (19-51) up 119-115 and provided enough of a cushion for New Orleans to hang on for the victory. Williamson finished with a game-high 29 points, eight assists and five boards.

Anthony Edwards matched Williamson’s game-high 29 points for the Wolves (40-31), but shot just 5 for 19 and missed a 3-pointer the possession following Williamson’s dagger.

Williamson was dominant from the start and the Wolves threw everyone at him, all to no avail. They’ll need to figure out how to contain him quick as they’re in for a rematch against the Pelicans on Friday at Target Center.
