Wrexham strengthened their position for automatic promotion to the Championship with a 3-0 win against Burton Albion on Saturday.
That result coupled with Wycombe Wanderers’ 1-0 defeat at Reading means that Wrexham are six points clear in second place, although Wycombe have played a game less meaning they could cut the gap to three points.
Three goals in the final 20 minutes of the game, from Steven Fletcher, Sam Smith and Jack Marriott, left Wrexham on the brink of a third straight promotion.
Burton, 21st in League One and in danger of relegation, were reduced to 10 men in the 10th minute of the game when Charlie Webster was shown a red card
The team, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have five games left to play this campaign.
