WWE SmackDown Results and Highlights (04/04/25): CM Punk and Paul Heyman, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton, Last Man Standing match, and more

The April 4, 2025 WWE SmackDown featured CM Punk addressing the crowd, LA Knight defeating Tama Tonga, and a segment between Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair. Motor City Machine Guns became the number one contenders, and Jacob Fatu won the Last Man Standing match, securing a shot at the United States Championship.

Several high-octane matches were slated for the April 4, 2025, episode of WWE SmackDown at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont in Illinois. CM Punk and Paul Heyman segment, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton, LA Knight vs. Tama Tonga, Number One Contender’s Tag Team Match, and several other moments highlighted the night. Here are the results and highlights of the latest episode of the Friday Night SmackDown.

CM Punk returned to a hero’s welcome in Chicago, taking in the love from fans before stepping into the ring. He opened up, saying he wasn’t even supposed to be alive— born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck— and yet here he was, headlining WrestleMania. He thanked the 16,000 in attendance and credited his journey to hard work, not luck. Punk gave a heartfelt shoutout to his wife April and his dog Larry, both met with loud chants. He promised to beat Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. Paul Heyman interrupted, calling Punk his best friend and “the best in the world.” He hinted at needing a favor, but Punk said he’d reveal it only once Roman Reigns shows up.

The bell rang, and the action kicked off at a rapid pace. Fenix landed a spinning kick and followed with a hurricanrana, but Frazer kicked out. Frazer tossed Fenix outside, attempted a dive, but got caught. Fenix hit a corkscrew dive, but Frazer responded with a superplex and a neckbreaker. Fenix avoided the Fenix Splash, delivered a dropkick, and followed up with the “Goodbye Amigo” kick. After a firedriver and a superkick, Fenix nailed the Mexican Muscle Buster and got the pin.

Result: Rey Fenix defeated Nathan Frazer

LA Knight went on the attack early. He landed punches and a suplex before Tama Tonga tripped him into the turnbuckle. Tonga followed with a back drop and near fall, but LA Knight answered with a big boot and corner offense.

After sending Tama outside, Knight slammed him onto the announce table. Solo’s distraction let Tama shove Knight onto the table. Back inside, both traded moves until LA Knight hit a neckbreaker, powerslam, and jumping elbow. Despite interference, Knight landed BFT on Tama Tonga and secured the win with a clean pin.

Result: LA Knight with the win

Tiffany Stratton joined Wade Barrett and Charlotte Flair in the ring as the crowd shouted, “Tiffy Time.” Wade asked Charlotte if picking Tiffany for WrestleMania was still the right call. Charlotte said yes. Tiffany fired back, saying Charlotte would always be second to her dad— and soon, second to her.

Flair dismissed the insults as recycled lines. But Tiffany reminded her she was champion at 25, while Charlotte was still in her dad’s basement. Flair called herself a “nepo-queen,” and after one final dig, Tiffany left with her title held high.

The Street Profits watched from ringside as Sabin and Gargano opened the match. After quick tags and fast offense from both teams, Motor City Machine Guns took control.

Alex and Sabin landed superkicks and a suicide dive, but DIY got back into the match. Gargano tripped Sabin into an exposed turnbuckle, and Ciampa followed with a knee and backbreaker. As DIY tried for Meeting in the Middle, Sabin dodged and turned the tide. Later, Ciampa went for a sneaky pin with his feet on the ropes— but the ref caught it. Sabin capitalized and scored the win.

Result: Motor City Machine Guns with the win to become number one contenders

Naomi was ambushed by Jade Cargill before the match, but still made it to the ring. After a brief offensive burst from B-Fab, Naomi turned things around. She trapped B-Fab in the tree of woe, slammed her into the corner, and hit a modified lung blower to score the pinfall victory.

Result: Naomi won.

Nick Aldis introduced Kevin Owens, who walked out wearing a Bret Hart jacket and looking emotional. Owens revealed he’s dealing with a serious neck injury and needs surgery, meaning he’ll miss WrestleMania—and his match with Randy Orton. As Owens thanked the fans, Orton appeared. Owens exited without a word. Aldis told Orton he no longer had a WrestleMania match. In response, Orton dropped him with an RKO, stared at the WrestleMania sign.

Jacob Fatu charged down at Braun Strowman’s entrance, and the bell rang. Strowman threw heavy punches and sent Fatu into the ring, but Fatu fired back with a superkick and a spinning elbow. He followed with two moonsaults, nearly winning by count-out.

Strowman grabbed a table and dished out more blows directed at Fatu, but the Tribal Wolf answered with a dive over the ropes. The fight spilled into the crowd, ending with a suplex off a crate through a table. They returned to the ring, limping, where Fatu drove Strowman through a table with a running hip attack. Strowman stayed down for ten.

Result: Jacob Fatu with the win and becomes the Last Man Standing Number One Contender for the United States Championship.
